How are treatments administered?
Treatments are performed by positioning the laser handpiece on the skin above the area of injury.
How many treatments are needed?
For most ACUTE conditions, 5–6 treatments are all needed. chronic conditions take longer and may require 6–12 treatments. Each animal is unique, and healing times vary by animal & condition. For pets with a life-long condition, follow-up treatments 1–2 times a month may be needed.
Is Laser Therapy safe without side effects?
Laser therapy has been in use for over 30 years around the world & it is used every day in sports medicine/rehab. Almost no side effects have been reported. Occasionally, some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days as the healing response becomes more active after treatment.
How long will the treatment take?
Depending on the condition, treatment times average 5–10 minutes, but this is based on the size of the area, depth of penetration needed, and condition being treated.
Will the treatment hurt?
People mostly notice a warm, often soothing feeling. Patients with darker hair may have a more intense warm feeling due to increased absorption by the hair follicles. In these pets, water is applied to the fur, and the handpiece is moved around to prevent a buildup of heat.
When can normal activity begin again?
The moment an animal leaves the clinic, they may resume normal daily activity. It is important to remember to not overexert for a few days as the body is still healing.
